Teleschool launched in Pakistan - Online education for Pakistani students! 13th April 2020

Today 13th April 2020, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Teleschool for students under lock down to help maintain their power of  learning which is being disturbed by Coronavirus pandemic! He inaugurated the first ever teleschool in the country that has been developed to impart education to students in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Schools across the country had been ordered shut in the third week of March as part of the government’s social distancing measures following the increase in cases of coronavirus. The schools were earlier meant to remain shut until April 4, but the deadline was extended until May 31 after the virus was seen spreading across the country further. Besides schools, most other business and trade activities were also ordered shut by the government on March 24, and have remained closed since. A decision is expected on the extension of the countrywide lock down in a high level meeting today. The teleschool, that will help children continue education while sitting at home through various educational programs, will be broadcast through Pakistan Television. The government believes it will help minimize the loss of learning children are facing due to the continued closure of schools.

PM Imran is expected to officially inaugurated the transmission of these educational programs on 13th April 2020. The schooling will be available for 10 hours from 14th April 2020 each day from 8am to 6pm and would focus on students of grades 1 to 12. Programs broadcast in the morning sessions would be aimed at younger students, while those in the latter half of the day would cater to older students.

Schedule

According to the Ministry of Education, the content has been aligned with students’ learning objectives for major subjects of the curriculum prevalent across the country. It added that the content had been sequenced by officials from the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), while some digital educational content development platforms provided support on a pro bono basis.
The ministry said PTV had been chosen as the broadcast medium as 95% of the population had access to its services.
