Pakistan's nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has died || PKNNTV

 

According to Pakistan's official media, Pakistan's nuclear scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has passed away at the age of 85.
Talking to local media on Sunday, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed expressed sorrow over the demise of the nuclear scientist and said that Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan's health had been deteriorating for some time. Sheikh Rashid said that he would issue a detailed statement in this regard shortly.
According to the management of KRL Hospital, Islamabad, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was shifted to the hospital on Sunday morning due to critical health condition but he could not recover.
On September 1st, a spokesman for Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan told the Associated Press that "Dr. AQ Khan was diagnosed with corona and was transferred to KRL on August 26th."
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was born in Bhopal in 1936 and migrated to Pakistan with his family in 1947.
He received his 1967 engineering degree from a university in the Netherlands.
He then went to West Germany and the Netherlands for higher education. He received his doctorate in metallurgical engineering from the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium in 1972.
Abdul Qadeer Khan, popularly known as AQ Khan, is commonly referred to as the "founder of Pakistan's nuclear program."
He founded the Engineering Research Laboratory (ERL), which helped enrich uranium in the country. The institute was renamed Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in 1981.
It may be recalled that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan had admitted to selling nuclear secrets to other countries after which he was placed under house arrest in 2004.
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was twice awarded Nishan Imtiaz and Hilal Imtiaz.
