More than 170 Palestinians were wounded after Israeli police raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem and scattered worshippers elsewhere, escalating weeks-long tensions between Israel and the Palestinians over Jerusalem.
Earlier in the day, on the final Friday of Ramadan, tens of thousands of Palestinian worshippers filled the mosque. Many remained to gather in favor of Palestinians who are being forced to leave their homes on Israeli-occupied land claimed by Jewish settlers.
